Chapter 7

[*Present Day*]

The Halls of ‘Hallows High’ (The Magic Realm):

In a red light, both men appeared in the middle of a spacious hallway. The Witch released Nathaniel’s hands, and both men looked around the unfamiliar environment.

The hallway’s décor consisted of Halloween decorations from Pumpkins, to Skeletons and faux spider webs. Gold and Black painted lockers were found along the walls and a black twelve-foot-tall Christmas tree was decorated with golden Jack-o'-lanterns that stood in the middle of the hallway as if they were the school’s mascot.

“Where are we?” Nathaniel asked and looked around the empty hall.

“It looks like we’re in a…” Jayson stopped speaking when he read the school’s banner, which stood over the decorated tree. “Ah crap. We’re at Hallows High.”

The Knight joined him and read the banner, “Hallows High? That doesn’t sound too good.”

“It’s just a school filled with Magical Beings. All who have high hopes to be the next Merlin or Glinda.”

Nathaniel knew there were schools in various parts of the Realms that catered to the diverse population, but he had no idea there was one specifically for Magical Beings that celebrated Halloween in January. “So, their Christmas is Halloween?” He asked and motioned with his hands to the large Christmas tree.

Jayson shook his head, “no. They erected a statue of the Grimm Brothers, Ludwig and Carl, a few centuries ago because the brothers saved a few Wizards in training from the Lost Dark Realm. Keep in mind these two were Mortals who stumbled upon one of eight Portals that hide in the Mortal Realm.” Jayson shook his head again, and continued on, “Unfortunately, the brothers kept journals of Beings they met in the Enchanted and Magic Realms, so they could expose us to the Mortal Realm. But the real cherry on this sick sundae was when the brothers gained a magical journal through their ventures. They wrote exaggerated stories of the Beings they encountered within that magical journal and before anyone knew it, they ended up creating the Obscura Realm- a Realm full of dark and twisted doppelgangers of every Being they encountered on their adventures. Eventually the school officials tore down the statue of their faux heroes and replaced it with a Halloween Tree.”

“What happened to the Grimm Brothers and the Obscura Realm?”

Jayson shrugged his shoulders. “The Obscura Realm was shut down by a Coven of Pure Witches. As for the Grimm Brothers, rumors spread that the brothers gave themselves Immortality. Other rumors suggest the brothers gave themselves new identities and are living in the Magic Realm. No one really knows. They just disappeared.”

Before Nathaniel could say a word, the sound of high heels that clicked and clunked on the black marble tiled floors echoed behind them. They turned around to find a middle-aged woman walking towards them with a smile plastered on her face. Her brown chestnut hair was styled into a neat bun on top of her head; she wore a pink and white wool dress, pink and white shoes to match, and a necklace of pink pearls hung around her neck.
